Local businesses invited to construction procurement event

An event to help businesses benefit from construction opportunities across Oldham has been organised.

It has been set up by private sector companies with support from Greater Manchester Chamber and Oldham Council, which is calling on construction-related firms from across the area to take part.

Cllr Sean Fielding, Council Leader and cabinet member Economy and Enterprise, said: “Having recently launched Oldham Council’s Creating a Better Place regeneration strategy for Oldham, we are keen to get as many local organisations involved in the opportunities as possible.

“The first projects include the new Saddleworth School in Diggle and OMA – a state-of-the-art arts and heritage centre which is being developed in the former Oldham Library in Oldham Town Centre.

“Creating a Better Place is a £306 million investment strategy which will create 1,000 jobs, 100 apprenticeship opportunities and 2,000 homes – and we want Oldham organisations to be an integral part of its delivery.”

The event takes place on Thursday 6 February from 12pm to 2pm at the Victoria Hotel on Hollinwood Avenue in Chadderton.

The agenda will include:

  • Networking and light lunch
  • Presentation: update and opportunities in Oldham
  • Key development presentation by Interserve Construction:
    • OMA (Oldham Museum & Archives)
    • Saddleworth School
    • Prospect House School
    • Halycon Way School
  • Q & A
