The Neighbourhood Plan for Whaley Bridge has now been submitted to High Peak Borough Council.

Vision4Whaley has thanked all those who have been involved in the process to create the plan, which is available to view at www.vision4whaley.org.uk

The next stage will see the borough council arrange for an independent examiner to check that the plan meets the basic conditions.

If the plan passes these tests, HPBC will organise a public referendum so that everyone who lives in the neighbourhood area can decide if they support it.

If more than 50 per cent of the voters are in favour of the plan, the local authority must bring it into force.

It would then form part of the statutory development plan, meaning any decisions about whether or not to grant planning permission in the Neighbourhood area must be made by taking the Neighbourhood plan into consideration.
