The Chief Executive of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT has praised Glossop Mountain Rescue Team

The Chief Executive of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT has praised the work of the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team for helping community nursing staff reach vulnerable patients during the recent severe weather.

The volunteers came to the aid of the Integrated Urgent Care Team when deep snow caused travel problems across Glossop, Hyde and the surrounding areas, making roads impassable for vehicles, and hard to get to patients in the more rural communities.
Karen James OBE explained: “  Our staff would have struggled without help of the dedicated rescue team. Their expertise in quickly responding to our call for help ensured technical care instructors were able to reach patients, many of whom required vital medication. We can’t thank them enough."

Paula Bell, Integrated Urgent Care Team Lead, added: “ When we woke up to blizzard-like conditions, it was obvious we would need assistance and these wonderful volunteers made sure we were able to reach all the patients who needed us.”
GMRT is run entirely by volunteers and rely on public donations. As well as assisting with callouts on mountains and moorlands, the team also work with the community to help Scouts, Guides, cyclists and others. The Team are based at Glossop Police Station E-mail: info@gmrt.org.uk or in an emergency Dial 999 and ask for Police.
