Success for inaugural Hadfield Repair Cafe

Hadfield's first Repair Café - held at the town's Methodist Church last Saturday (21 May) - is being hailed a success.

Rev Natalie Hackett told us: "At Hadfield Repair Café we were very pleased to welcome the Mayor of High Peak, Councillor Ollie Cross, to open the Café for the very first time. Our repairers were busy all morning providing a range of repairs from bikes, to clothes, a laptop and a number of small electrical items and furniture.

"They were also very happy to be able to do some work on the Mayor’s chain of office! Whilst our customers were waiting, there were drinks and biscuits and a great range of cakes including vegan options all made by our lovely volunteers. There was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to find it a very enjoyable and positive occasion.

"Most repairs were completed successfully and advice was given about those items that couldn’t be repaired on the spot. We had lots of positive feedback from customers – the two children who had bikes repaired were particularly pleased, as was the lady whose laptop was fixed, who commented that she received 'awesome service from awesome people'."

The next session is on 18 June which will be held at Hadfield Methodist Church, located at 99 Station Road.

Natalie added: "Do feel free to come and bring something to repair and pass the word on to your family and friends. As we are completely run by volunteers, we are able to offer this service for no charge."
