Local community speed watch volunteers have been busy monitoring two busy roads in Hadfield and Tintwistle respectively.

The Hadfield Community Speed Watch volunteer team were on Newshaw Lane in Hadfield between 11am and 12pm on Tuesday (29 March).

During that time, 173 vehicles went past in both directions. Of those, only one was recorded driving at a speed in excess of 35 miles per hour on the stretch of road which is 30mph.

Then last Saturday (26 March), they were on Manchester Road in Tintwistle from 3.45pm to 4.45pm.

Again, the speed of the road was 30mph. During the hour, 1,060 vehicles went by in both directions.

Of those, 39 drove at a speed over 35mph

The owner/registered keeper of all the vehicles will receive letters of advice about their speeding.

Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team have thanked the speed watch volunteers for taking part and called on people to respect and support them in making roads safer for everyone to use.
