Simmondley schoolgirl Scarlett Chenery has been busy getting on her bike, cycling 250 miles to raise thousands of pounds for mental health charity Mind.
Scarlett recently completed her epic journey after cycling 5-10 miles most nights - even in the rain!
Through her efforts, the youngster hoped to raise £250 for Mind but she's inspired people to give generously and her total stands at just over £3,600.
To see her over the last hurdle, friends and family lined the street in a socially distanced fashion, holding banners and balloons congratulating Scarlett on her amazing achievement.
Her 250-mile route, broken up over several months, took her through Longdendale, Derbyshire, Marple, Macclesfield and on the Monsal trail.
The distance Scarlett completed is about the same as nine-and-a-half London marathons!
Inspiration for Scarlett’s ride came after a discussion she had with parents about the importance of mental health and the challenges of lockdown.
The money donated will go toward Mind's campaigns for better mental health services, online peer support and helpline calls.
Scarlett’s mum Anna Chenery added: “She's only gone and done it! What a fab achievement - we're all so proud of her. Thank you to everyone who sponsored her and cheered her on!”
