Simmondley Medical Practice reveal amounts raised at their Christmas Raffle

The Patient Participation Group (PPG) at Simmondley Medical Practice were delighted with the amount of money raised at their annual Christmas Raffle.

Prizes had been provided by patients of the practice, Simmondley Coop, Sues Salon and once again this year two Christmas Hampers were generously donated by the Medical Practice.

PPG members wish to thank everyone who purchased raffle tickets.  Proceeds amounted to £260 which was presented to their chosen local cause – Glossopdale Foodbank, a local independent registered charity and CIO that provides emergency food for individuals and families in financial crisis.

The cost-of-living crisis continues to have an impact on a significant number of people in Glossopdale. 2023 saw the largest number of people needing the Foodbank since it was established 11 years ago. From January to the end of December, the number of referrals to the foodbank was 2,940. Some 68,913 meals were distributed in the food parcels. The foodbank could not happen without the wonderful generosity of the Glossopdale Community and by the tireless hard work and commitment from over 60 foodbank volunteers. We are very grateful for this support.

Details of where food parcels can be collected and where food can be donated can be found on the Foodbank's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/glossopdalefoodbank/ or website  https://glossopdalefoodbank.org.uk
