Scout group give out Easter eggs to elderly Glossop residents

Helping make an "egg-stra" special celebration for older people in Glossop have been Dinting Scout group.

The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts collected over 70 Easter eggs for elderly people across Glossopdale.

They were presented at Glossop Age Concern's annual party, held at Bradbury Community House on Palm Sunday.

It was the first time in two years that older residents have been able to enjoy the get-together, and all those attended were presented with daffodils and palm crosses.

Joyce Brocklehurst, Chair of Age Concern in Glossop, said: “The scouts have supported us for a long time and collect the Easter Eggs for the older people and present them at the party.

“It is a tradition with Age Concern for us to hold the party on Palm Sunday.”

Among those enjoying the event was former garage owner Bob Dowd, who has just celebrated his 101st birthday.

Joyce said: “Everyone really enjoyed the party.”

Age Concern in Glossop also organise regular trip, events, and coffee mornings.

The group has 200 members and is open to everyone who is aged 60 and over. Membership forms are available at the Age Concern Glossop office at Bradbury House.
