Schools receive souvenir book for Queen's Platinum Jubilee

A school in Glossopdale was the first in Derbyshire to receive a souvenir book to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Derbyshire County Council is sending a book to every school in the county as part of celebrations to mark the Queen's remarkable 70 years of service - the first British monarch to reach the historic milestone.

Children at Charlesworth VC Primary School were the first to receive one of the books, which was presented by DCC Civic Chairman Councillor Jean Wharmby and her Civic Consort, husband George Wharmby.

Pictured with Cllr Wharmby and Civic Consort George Wharmby after receiving their souvenir Jubilee book are Charlesworth VC Primary School headteacher Philip Whiston with pupils Maida (7), Sienna (8), Sienna (9) and Oliver (8).

The Queen and members of the Royal Family will travel around the country throughout 2022, undertaking a variety of engagements to mark the occasion. The focal point is the Platinum Jubilee Weekend - an extended bank holiday from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June.
