Sandra Ballington to retire from floristry business after over 30 years

After over 60 years in the industry, Glossop florist Sandra Ballington is set to retire.

Sandra is retiring after starting floristry at the age of 15. She has had the business ‘Sandra’s Flower Shop’ on Henry Street in Glossop since 1991.

The loyal team at the florist, which included family members and her late husband Frank,  have been creating displays for weddings, holidays, funerals and any other special occasions. The shop would partake in Glossop’s iconic Victorian Weekend which saw Sandra dress up in her best Victorian attire, they also decorated Norfolk Square for Remembrance Day as well as decorating the front of shop, always making it appear vibrant and welcoming.

Sandra and her family want to reiterate how hardworking her team has been over the years, saying: “The wonderful team has been a second family; their loyalty and talents are greatly appreciated by all the Ballingtons.”

Following this announcement, many local customers and residents took to social media to express their appreciation for Sandra and business: “Thought it would never happen, the most helpful lady in Glossop.”, “Thanks for your flower arrangements over the years to friends and family, happy retirement.”

At age 77, Sandra plans to spend her retirement with her family and grandchildren.
