New Blue Peter presenter takes on abseil challenge

Fiona Stubbs, from the National Park’s communications team, captured the scene as Abby put her fears aside to take on the challenge.

The new Blue Peter presenter's first challenge for TV is in the Peak District National Park.

The newest presenter on the iconic children’s show has been put through her paces - by abseiling off the famous ‘Bridge 75’ viaduct at Millers Dale.

Abby Cook, 20, put her fears aside she took on her first adrenaline-fuelled challenge in the Peak District National Park in a bid to collect her coveted first presenter’s badge.

A wheelchair racer from Falkirk, Abby - who joins Mwaka Mudenda, Joel Mawhinney and Henry the dog - made her debut on the long-running CBBC show on Friday (10 March).

Abby's challenge airs on Blue Peter at 5pm.

Specialist facilities at Millers Dale allow for those with mobility challenges to be able to undertake abseils above the River Wye supported by local experts.
