Residents are being invited to share their opinions on proposed changes aimed at improving road safety on the A5004 Long Hill between Buxton and Whaley Bridge.

The online public consultation is under way and there are also two drop-in sessions taking place in Buxton and Whaley Bridge, with highways and road safety staff available to answer questions.

They are being held on Tuesday (6 December) from 2.30pm to 8.30pm at the Pump Room, The Crescent in Buxton, and on Thursday 15 December from 2.30pm to 8.30pm at the Mechanics Institute in Whaley Bridge.

Funding for the proposals, worth around £2.5 million, has come from the Department for Transport’s Safer Roads Fund to improve safety along the 50 most dangerous roads in the country.

Measures being considered include installing average speed cameras, hatching, white lining and rumble strips along the edge of the road, improving visibility around bends and at junctions by removing bushes or lowering walls, improving drainage, and installing crash barriers.

Feedback and comments can be shared by completing the online questionnaire available on the county council's website at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/A5004consultation

The public consultation will close on Sunday 15 January.
