Little Lacey laps it up around Pyegrove

Lacey Quinlan is piling in the laps around Pyegrove Fields while she is training for a cash-raising run.

The nine-year-old is lacing up her running shoes in a bid to bring in badly needed funds for Haywill Animal Rescue, which has bases in Glossop and Broadbottom.

Lacey (pictured), from York Street, Glossop, said: “I really like animals and I want to help as many as possible have the best life, because they deserve it.

“The money I raise will buy food and bedding for all the animals.”

With the help of mum Jade, she set about searching for an animal charity to support and decided that Haywill was just about perfect.

The search for a money-raising challenge has led to Lacey taking to the field at Pyegrove play park and sports field, where she has been in training for weeks.

Jade, taking a break from watching  her daughter’s latest session  on Saturday, said: “She is aiming to run 13 laps  which is about 3.6 miles.

“She is super determined, always has been and once she puts her mind to something, I have no doubt she will smash it.”

Lacey has already exceeded her £150 target and has now reached £455.

The run takes place on April 10 and the Duke of Norfolk School pupil Lacey is building up her strength ready for her big day.
