Holiday activities for children during the Easter break

There's no need for the children to be bored during the Easter holidays with a huge range of free, fun activities on offer at community centres, village halls and schools across the High Peak.

From film making to sports and craft sessions there are a variety of activities on offer for children aged 5-16 from Monday, (April 11).

Providers include High Peak Community Arts, The Bureau, Hadfield Together, Chapel Good Neighbour, Youth Matters New Mills CIC, and New Mills Youth and Community CIC.

Sessions are free for families who claim benefit related free school meals. A limited number of holiday activity places are available for other disadvantaged school age young people living in the county including children with special educational needs and children in care.

Places are available on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to those on benefit related free school meals.

The sessions are part of the spring holiday activity and food programme (HAF) programme developed by Derbyshire County Council and supported by funding from the Department for Education.

DCC Cabinet Member for Children’s Services Councillor Julie Patten said: “With 26,000 places available at 95 venues across the county, a host of activities are on offer to provide opportunities for children to meet up with their friends, learn new skills and get a healthy and nutritious meal – a real bonus for families on low incomes.”

To book, parents can visit derbyshire.gov.uk/holidayactivities to find details about dates and times of sessions and contact details.
