High Peak charity needs your help

A High Peak charity needs your help to raise £5,000 in just one week, with donations doubled as part of a special fund launched for International Women's Day.

Crossroads Derbyshire is taking part in the Women and Girls Match Fund 2022.

The £5,000 fund would help the domestic abuse charity - which supports adults, young people and children through outreach work in the community and in emergency accommodation - will help to provide activity sessions in its garden, trips out, group activities and one-to-one support for young women and their children who have fled abuse.

The sessions are a fundamental part of trauma healing and help Crossroads Derbyshire's service users to process their experiences, feel more connected and build confidence.

Donations to Crossroads Derbyshire will be matched by the government's Tampon Tax Fund during the campaign, meaning people's money can support twice as many residents at The Harmony Project - which is the local charity's specialist emergency accommodation for young women and their children who are fleeing abuse, forced marriage and sexual exploitation.

To get involved, visit theBigGive.org.uk and make a donation from midday on International Women's Day (8 March) until midday on Tuesday 15 March.
