Hadfield murder probe victim named by police

A woman who was found dead at a house in Hadfield has been named by police as a murder investigation continues.

The 24-year-old's body was discovered at a property on Greenbank on Sunday (18 June) after emergency services were called shortly after 4pm.

A murder inquiry was immediately launched by Derbyshire Constabulary, who have now confirmed the victim has been formally identified as Olivia Marsden.

The force said on Wednesday (21 June) that Olivia's family are being supported by specialist officers but her cause of death is still yet to be determined.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder and a woman in her 50s was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both have now been bailed, pending further enquiries.

A section of Greenbank was still taped off on Wednesday, with forensic officers and a police presence also witnessed at the scene.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "The victim in the Hadfield murder investigation has been named.

"Olivia Marsden was found deceased at her home in Greenbank after the North West Ambulance Service was called just after 4pm on Sunday (18 June).

"A post-mortem has taken place, however, the cause of the 24-year-old’s death has yet to be found. Formal identification has taken place, her family are being supported by specialist officers and we ask that their privacy is respected at this time.

"A man in his 30s, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, as well as a woman in her 50s arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have both been released on police bail as further enquiries are undertaken."

Anyone who may be able to assist the investigation is asked to contact Derbyshire police including the reference 23*373737 or by anonymously contacting the independent charity CrimeStoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the CrimeStoppers website.
