Glossopdale churches come together to support Christian Aid Week

St Mary's Church in Glossop, one of the churches involved.

Churches across Glossopdale will again be working together and flying the flag for Christian Aid, which runs from 14 to 21 May.

Members of All Saints’ Parish Church, St James’ Church, St Luke’s Church, St Mary’s RC Church, Hadfield Methodist Church and Central Methodist Church will be delivering the traditional red envelopes around Glossop and Hadfield.

This year organisers, rather than returning to collect, are asking everyone to take their donations to Central Methodist Church.

They feel the volunteers can cover more homes this way and, as online giving often suits people better, they have also set up a local online donation page at: https://bit.ly/glossopdalecaw2023

A Tea/Coffee Afternoon to raise funds is being held at All Saints’ Parish Church on Tuesday 16 May from 2pm.

On Sunday 21 May at 10am, there will be a special Christian Aid service at Central Methodist Church, with a guest speaker from Christian Aid. Thanks to the support of people across Glossopdale, a figure of just over £4,000 was raised last year and organisers are hoping to increase that this year.

Started in 1945 following World War II, Christian Aid was started in response to the refugee crisis and poverty in Europe. It continues to respond to humanitarian emergencies and works with local partners and communities to fight injustice, supporting people of all faiths and none.
