Glossop man to run 10k for Willow Wood this weekend

Sixty seven year old Peter Flanagan will be running the Manchester Run this weekend.

Peter has been diagnosed with dementia pugilistica and he says that training and having a focus is ‘essential’ as it helps ‘clear his mind’.

He will be raising funds for local charity, Willow Wood hospice, he added: “Willow Wood is a great cause, they have helped many of our loved ones over the years. Whether it's been nurses in the community, advice, medication reviews, relaxation treatments during day visits or full hospice care.”

“They have provided the best patient care and supported family members too.”

Peter has done several of these events in the past however his grandson Riley, who is 15 years old will be making his running debut with him.

The AJ Bell Great Manchester Run is the biggest event in the North West. Starting and finishing in the heart of the city, runners soak up the Manchester spirit the whole way round and pass iconic landmarks on their journey to the finish line.

So far, Peter has raised £225 but he is hoping to raise £600.
