Glossop firefighters in mammoth challenge for Reuben's Retreat

The firefighters who will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

A group of firefighters from Glossop are pushing themselves to the limits with a mammoth fundraising challenge for a local charity.

Josh Charlesworth, Paul Hudson, Carter Moss, Jake Bradbury, Dave Pitt, Beth Kent, Reece Barker and Adam Mears from Blue Watch will be scaling the Yorkshire Three Peaks on Saturday 27 May.

They will be doing it to raise vital funds and awareness for Reuben's Retreat, which offers emotional and practical support for parents and siblings bereaved of a child and for families of life limited or threatened children who face uncertain futures.

The firefighters have been training hard and busy organising transport, routes, accommodation and everything else - all between shifts and shouts.

Stacey Kirkpatrick, Senior Fundraiser at Reuben's Retreat, said: "We are really grateful to them. They have been preparing well and have called in to give us an update. Some of them are looking forward to it more than others!

"We thank them all for taking on what is a tough challenge and wish them well."

The Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge is a circular walk which encompasses three major peaks in the Yorkshire Dales - Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, the best-known hills in the area.

You can donate via their JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/glossopblue

The crew will also be lending their support to a Charity Car Wash at Reuben's Retreat HQ in Glossop on Monday (8 May).

It's part of The Big Help Out - a national day of volunteering on the one-off bank holiday to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

Between 10am and 2pm, you will be able to get your vehicle cleaned for a suggested donation of £10. Proceeds will go towards the charity's work with complexly poorly children and families of child loss.

To avoid disruption, people are asked to access Park Crescent via North Road.
