Glossop-based charity seeks new Chairperson

Former High Peak Mayor Cllr Ed Kelly, who was the previous Chairperson of the charity.

Glossop-based charity PCrefurb is looking for a new Chairperson to lead its Board of Trustees.

PCrefurb aims to "bridge the digital divide" by refurbishing donated IT equipment and redistributing it to those most in need.

At its core is a group of volunteers, many of whom face complex challenges in their lives, who work as a team refurbishing the donated IT equipment.

In collaboration with the NHS and key community partners, PCrefurb also runs a Digital Wellbeing Project which supports people to develop their skills and confidence in using devices for day-to-day activities that improve their health and well-being.

Since PCrefurb's inception in 2018, former High Peak Mayor Cllr Ed Kelly has taken on the role of Chairperson and has seen the charity grow from a small group of volunteers refurbishing a handful of PCs to a vibrant and much-needed organisation with six employees and over 300 referrals for equipment each year.

Ed stood down from the Board earlier this year and the charity is looking for someone with experience of the charity sector and a passion for supporting vulnerable members of the High Peak and Tameside community to take on this position.

If you are interested in learning more about this voluntary role, email russell.gard@pcrefurb.org.uk

Expressions of interest will be received until 20 May.
