Friends to take on golfing challenge in Glossop for charity

A group of friends are taking on a golfing challenge in Glossop to raise vital funds for a prostate cancer charity.

The 'Friendship for Friends' group will be taking on 'The Big Golf Race' on Thursday (13 July) by putting 72 holes in 24 hours (the equivalent of 26 miles) at Glossop Golf Club to support Prostate Cancer UK.

The team itself is made up of local residents Steve Bottomley, Alex Halliday, Chris Mountfort, LT Bottomley and Daniel Ashton.

People are then welcome at The Friendship Inn on Arundel Street on Saturday (15 July) from 6pm for a raffle, DJ and BBQ to continue the fundraising for their important cause.

In advance, the pub is appealing to friends, customers and local businesses for donations of raffle prizes.

Anyone who can help is asked to get in touch via the Friendship Inn Facebook page or call in to the pub.

If you can't attend on Saturday, people can also make a donation via the JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/team/glossop-golf-club-32098

Prostate cancer affects one in eight men in the UK and funds raised for Prostate Cancer UK will go towards lifesaving research to find better tests to diagnose men sooner.
