A new exhibition is being held in Hadfield to document the people, animals and flowers that rely on a patch of green land for their wellbeing.
Roughfields lies between Valehouse Drive and Padfield Main Road.
It is earmarked for a housing development by High Peak Borough Council.
Halina Billingham (pictured below) set up the Save Roughfields campaign to keep the land free for public use.
She told us: "The idea for the exhibition started nearly a year ago. We felt it was really important to show people how well the land is used by local people and highlight the animals and flowers that live there.
"We had three photographers - Joanne and Katy Wilde along with Paul Kirkham - taking portraits of people and wildlife on Roughfields. We are displaying all the photos in the exhibition called 'Faces of Roughfields' at The Craft Barn in Hadfield from 30 April until 2 May.
“We’ve managed to get a good balance of the local people and everyone who took part will get an electronic copy of their photo. There is also the chance to buy the hard copy framed when the exhibition is over. We’ve tried to get the exhibition into a Manchester gallery, but so far we’ve had no luck with that.”
Halina is also looking for volunteers to distribute leaflets with the exhibition details. Anyone who can help can contact Halina on the Save Roughfields Facebook page.
