Community support Fun Day in Hayfield in memory of Amy Hall

A community came together on Saturday (6 August) for a charity Fun Day in memory of Amy Hall, on what would have been her 18th birthday.

Held on the Old School Field on Swallowhouse Lane in Hayfield, Amy's 18th Birthday Fun Day Fundraiser featured live music, BBQ, a bouncy castle, craft stalls, cake stall and more. Family and friends also released 18 white doves in memory of Amy.

A fundraising raffle was held featuring 120 prizes donated by a host of local businesses included family tickets to days out, meal vouchers donated by a host of popular eateries, hampers, and gift sets.

Amy's mum Nicky Hall thanked all those involved in making the event such a huge success, including everyone who attended or contributed to the day and gave a special thanks to the community.

She said: “A big thank you to Hayfield you have all been amazing from the day Amy left right up until now. You have supported us as a family and made us feel so loved and cared for. We really, really, appreciate everything everyone has done."

Amy died last September and her family and friends were raising funds in her memory to support Young Minds, Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide, Glossop Mountain Rescue and Kinder Mountain Rescue. The final amount raised is still to be confirmed.

Nicky said: “A huge thank you to Glossop Mountain Rescue and Kinder Mountain Rescue for attending but also for finding our beautiful girl Amy. I can never thank you all enough for that and looking after her.”

Both Glossop and Kinder Mountain Rescue teams said they were honoured that they were invited to attend.

Glossop MRT said: “The family and friends of Amy made it a wonderful day in her memory.”

Kinder MRT thanked all those who attended, joined in and contributed. They said: “Thank you, as well, to Amy's parents for inviting us and Glossop Mountain Rescue Team to attend - we were deeply honoured.”
