Community group has a new home in Glossop

Padfield-based Hummingbird Hubs is celebrating after finding new premises following a search lasting almost a year.

The group will now move its donations to a space above marketing agency Fig on High Street West in Glossop.

Appointments can be made when the shop is open and people can choose what they need.

Hummingbird Hubs donates clothing and other items to local families in need.

It’s led to Jo Gregory’s cellar on Platt Street being crammed full of donated items.

Jo said: "Martin Duncan from Fig contacted me and told me they had space above their building on High Street West. We officially move in on Friday 1 April, but to actually move all of our stock, it will take two to three weeks. We’ll start off with the baby stock and then move on to things for older children."

Clothes rails and racking have been donated by Adam Griffiths from Magic Merchants in Glossop, along with storage boxes from Envirolab.

Jo added: "We are trying to run our stock levels down and then we have less to move. I reckon we’ll still have about ten vanfulls to take over though. There’s three different rooms totalling around 800 square feet so it should be big enough to hold all our stock. If anyone needs anything in the meantime, please just ask us. We have so much stuff.

“The new premises will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, also Sundays. People will be offered an appointment to come and browse. We will pack some items up for them and they are also free to choose some others. It will look like a proper shop and we will also hold special days, such as school uniform days, toys and books days etc."

As well as sorting out the shop move, Jo has also been running a fundraising event to collect money for the people in Ukraine which has raised thousands of pounds.

Jo said: "Everything we have sent over has got to where it’s needed. I’d like to thank everyone for their donations and their trust in us to get their money to where it can be used best."
