Caring friends go on the run for Food Bank

Two friends ran through the night to help boost vital donations to Glossopdale Food Bank.

Starting at 10pm on Friday night, Guy Riddell and his friend Pete Wallroth ran around Manor Park until 9.30am on Saturday morning.

The duo had set themselves a target of running more miles than last year.

Instead of asking for sponsorship the pair asked for donations of food.

Glossopdale Food Bank said they are very grateful for all the support.

They said: “Thank you so so much for this fundraiser and to everyone supporting it. We appreciate it so much.

“It will give the shelves at the food bank a tremendous boost, much needed at this time of year.”

Speaking before the challenge, Guy said: “In this day and age nobody should go hungry. I’ve been working from home and I’ve seen the number of people going to the food bank, so this is my way of giving something back.

“I run around 2,000 miles a year and this seemed the obvious thing to do.”

Guy and Pete have also been supported by Hadfield Nursery School, where the pupils were encouraged to bring in food donations for the worthwhile cause.
