Annual New Mills duck race

The annual New Mills duck race is back this year on May 21, 12pm at the Torrs riverside park.

The race, which is organised by the PTAs from local primary schools and nurseries, along with New Mills Festival, raises money to support the PTAs and New Mills Festival activities. There’s a number of categories including a Corporate race, a schools race, and a public competition. There are both cash prices and trophies for the winning ducks.

The large rubber ducks will be released at the start line on the River Goyt down below Co-Op, New Mills, and the race is on to the finish line. There’s a lot of fun to be had around the event, with food stalls and entertainment for the whole family.

In the Corporate duck race, businesses can sponsor a large duck and try to feather their nest with a win that will go down in New Mills history by contacting sales@newmillsfestival.co.uk.

You can sponsor a duck (buy a ticket) in the public race through participating schools or from one of the following shops:

Priscilla’s Hallmark Card Shop on Market Street, Ryan’s DIY on Albion Road; or New Mills Post Office on Torr Top Street

Alternatively, you can sponsor a duck via the website. https://www.newmillsfestival.com/new-mills-duck-race-2023.
