Joe Symes and the Loving Kind

Band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are three-piece rock band Joe Symes and the Loving Kind. Their last release, a four track EP named A Place to Call Our Own, was sold in HMV stores across the northwest, with the band performing acoustically in the stores to enthusiastic crowds who gave an astounding response, with CD's selling out halfway through the performances and second batches going on shelves immediately.

The EP title track reached number 8 in the national 365 Radio Top 30 charts, based in London climbing higher than such artists as Florence and the Machine, Liam Gallagher, Jack White, White Lies, and Ed Sheeran to name just a few, and remained in the top 20 for five weeks. Influenced by some of the greatest bands ever including The Beatles, The Doors, and Echo and the Bunnymen, the band have played at many festivals including Tramlines, Wychwood festival, plus at many gigs around the UK in their own right.  The band are currently finishing their upcoming third album Portmanteau, which is scheduled for release this Summer.

This has been preceded by the video for single 'It’s All Too Late', a track taken from the album which has already had international airplay and reached number 2 in the Banks Radio Australia Valley FM 85.9 Chart, and number 4 in one of the Chart of Gold UK.

The band have also recently been offered festival slots in the U.S.A for 2025. Live dates coming up include a headline show at Liverpool's Zante Bar on March 23rd, plus the Glastonferry Festival in Warrington on June 29th. You can find other forthcoming dates and information at www.joesymesandthelovingkind.co.uk. Joe Symes and The Loving Kind will be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all of next week.
