Blueberry Hawks

Blueberry Hawks 420x236

From Monday 27th May onwards, our band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Blueberry Hawks.

They formed in 2020 and were brought together by a love of indie and rock music but with roots and influences from a variety of genres. Combining them all, they found a signature sound which has become their own ever since. Shortly after forming, the Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown happened, but online rehearsals continued over Zoom, with a strong determination to continue the project which they'd started.

Consisting of frontman Matt 'Nacker' Nickson, lead guitarist Mike 'Essex' Boyle, rhythm guitarist Barry 'Boz' Davies, bass player Andy 'Carling' Ellis, and drummer Martyn 'Ringo / Mad Dog' Evans, the five piece originally formed to play a one-off show at a charity fundraiser, but almost half a decade on, and with over 100 gigs now played, the loveable band have found themselves with a constant ever growing fanbase. They've also supported many hit recording bands including The Enemy and The K's.

Blueberry Hawks have a great sound, are all very committed to what they do, and listening to their music and seeing them play live it's obvious they also love what they do. The band's first release was an EP entitled 'Dirty Mile' in 2022, followed by debut album 'Tell It Straight' in February last year. New material on a new EP is also ready, with plans of releasing it this summer. Their music is available on all usual streaming platforms, and more information about the band can be found at www.blueberryhawks.co.uk .

Blueberry Hawks will be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all of next week. They also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show last Monday night, and you can listen again via the OnDemand section of the website.
