The fun of the tractor run

Around 30 tractors will be trundling through Glossop and Tameside this Sunday as local enthusiasts have a ride out.

The farm machines last hit the roads earlier this year when they left in convoy from Mottram Old Hall Showground.

This Sunday, they will be setting off from the start of the Snake Pass, Sheffield Road, Glossop, at 11am and head in the direction of Tameside.

Described as a ‘Tractor Run For Freedom’, they will head through the town centre, turning left for Simmondley, Charlesworth and Broadbottom, before doing a circuit of Hattersley at an estimated time of 11.20am.

An organiser said: “We will then rejoin the A57 Hyde Road, going through Godley and turning left at Morrisons to go through Hyde town centre.

“From Hyde we will head to Stalybridge via Clark Way, Newton Street, Bennett Street, turning left on to Ashton Roard, right onto Cheetham Road reaching Armentieres Square at around  11.55am.

“We then will then head back to Hollingworth via Mottram Road and Deep Cutting, ending the run at Spring Street, Hollingworth, at around 12.30pm where the tractors will be parked for viewing."
