Tameside's Miss Manchester hopefuls prepare for this weekend's pageant

The borough's hopefuls at this weekend's Miss Manchester contest have been fundraising across the borough in the run-up to the event.

They took part in a bag pack at Tesco Droylsden recently, raising £200 for Andy Burnham and Vincent Kompany’s homelessness charity Tackle4Mcr and the ‘A Bed Every Night Campaign’.

Other fundraising efforts from the girls include running the Manchester 10K, climbing Mount Snowdon and sleeping rough for a night.

On Sunday they’ll be competing in Miss Manchester 2019 at Vanitas Bar in the city centre.

This year’s line-up is the most diverse group of finalists ever and there are also more girls from Tameside taking part than ever before.

Suzy Bamgbose, Melanie Bentley, Lauren Harrop and Charlotte Noone will all be competing alongside Jemima Wright, who is looking to defend her Miss Tameside crown.

The competition has been running for 70 years and is currently under the stewardship of a newly-appointed director, Cheryl Broadfoot, from Droylsden.
