Tameside Radio to join in Mental Health Minute

Tameside Radio is playing its part in Mental Health Awareness Week this week alongside other radio stations nationwide.

The radio team will be broadcasting a series of special and important messages and interviews throughout Friday (14 May) in support of mental health awareness.

Taking place for a fourth year, Tameside Radio will also be taking part in 'Mental Health Minute' at 10.59am, which will see famous voices from the worlds of sport, music and more take to the airwaves all over the UK at exactly the same time, utilising radio to spark important conversations across the nation.

As in previous years, the messages will mark Mental Health Awareness Week with tomorrow marking the end of the week and remind audiences that the focus on good mental health doesn’t end when the week does and to continue the conversation.

This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘Nature’ and locally NHS Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Tameside Council have been backing the campaign.

They have been urging residents to connect with nature in new ways, highlighting the positive impact that this connection can have on their mental health.

Residents are being encouraged to connect with nature and access free NHS online resources to help improve their mental well-being.

Dr Asad Ali, Co-Chair at NHS Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “It’s important to take care of yourself and get the most from life. Making simple changes to how you live doesn’t need to cost a fortune or take up loads of time.

“Having good mental health helps us relax more, achieve more and enjoy our lives more.”
