Store's generous gesture to celebrate its anniversary

Openshaw-based Morrisons has celebrated its tenth anniversary by giving something back - including for Tameside Hospital's pre-natal ward.

Community Champion Danielle May has organised a trolley donation station to collect items for the hospital’s pre-natal ward. Baby clothes, chocolates and advent calendars are all being accepted.

In store, there is also a Christmas tree containing tags and gift ideas to buy for local care homes in the area. Visitors can take one, buy the item, and return it to Morrisons to be sent off for Christmas.

Danielle said: “Within half a mile of the store, there’s 11 care homes, meaning many residents that won’t be able to see their family through all of this.

“That’s why we’re trying to give to as many people as possible.

“This is the most rewarding role I’ve ever had the pleasure to take up. I’m paid to think about how to help others, how to give back. We’re told at Morrisons: ‘if you can help the community, then go and help them, they are supporting us.’”
