Primary school students spread christmas cheer

Year 5 pupils from St Peter’s C of E in Ashton brought a bit of Christmas cheer to the residents of Moss Cottage Nursing Home recently.

They made the short trip to surprise the residents with presents and a carol concert for the festive season. Each student made our bought a present specifically for a resident and took mince pies with them.

It was the first time many of the children had visited a nursing home and they commented how much they enjoyed the day.

The carols went down a treat, getting some of the residents on their feet and dancing to the festive songs.

The staff at Moss Cottage wrote to the school soon after, saying they were overwhelmed by their kindness and invited them to come back and visit soon.

Assistant headteacher Charlotte Pickersgill was delighted with the students behaviour and generous spirit.
