Police want to speak to these men after incident on Ashton motorway bridge

Local detectives have released images of two men they want to speak to following an incident in Ashton on Saturday.

At around 6.20pm on July 6, police received reports of an altercation between a group of men on the motorway bridge on Lord Sheldon Way, close to Ashton fire station.

There were no reported injuries during the incident but officers are working to establish the full circumstances.

They are looking to trace a red Ford Transit van, which was seen on the bridge before driving off towards Guide Bridge. The van has a distinctive white-coloured sliding door on the passenger side.

Detective Inspector Alison Whittaker, of GMP’s Tameside district, said: “We’re keen to speak to the men in these images in connection with this incident.

“We’ve been conducting enquiries since this was reported to us, and we are now appealing for the public’s help.

“If you saw anything, or if have any information about the red Transit van with white sliding door, please get in touch with police as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should contact Tameside CID on 0161 856 9216, quoting incident 1946 of 06/07/19 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
