Nostalgia: 400 support fashion show

Dressed to impress, a group of Droylsden High School girls stepped out on the catwalk for a fundraising fashion show back in 1983.

The ‘glamour evening,’ arranged by the parent teacher association, showcased three town centre businesses - Mousetrap, Hairways and Clinique - which organised the fashion parade, hair and make-up demonstrations.

Mousetrap had their own models but invited five girls from the school to join them.

PTA secretary Pauline Rowbotham said: “They rehearsed for five weeks and put an awful lot of time in. On the night they looked very professional. A few people even asked if we’d paid to hire them.”

Over 400 people attended the evening including a party of exchange visitors from Droylsden’s French twin town Villemomble.
