Motorcyclist suffers multiple serious injuries in motorway collision

Police are investigating after a motorcyclist in his 60s was seriously injured following a collision with a stationary car on the M60 motorway.

The man is in hospital with "multiple injuries" after his Honda motorbike collided with a stationary Skoda Fabia, police say.

It happened at around 11.20am on Thursday morning (17 September), on the M60 near junction 24 for Denton.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed an investigation is under way.

Officers want to speak, in particular, to the driver of a blue HGV who may be able to assist with their enquiries but are also appealing for any other witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Marie Eldred, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a serious collision which has left a man in hospital with multiple injuries. Our thoughts are with him as he receives treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and we are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a blue HGV as we believe they may have information or dash cam footage which may assist us.

"I would also like to use this opportunity to appeal to anyone else with information or dash cam footage to contact us."

Anyone with information should contact GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741, quoting 1130 of 17/09/20 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

The anticlockwise carriageway of the M60 was closed for several hours as a result, causing heavy traffic between Denton and Stockport.
