Mossley runner fights for mental health

A local woman has taken on an impressive running challenge to raise funds for a cause close to her heart.

As a member of Mossley Running Club, Shannon Gill is no stranger to lacing up her trainers, however completing 100 miles throughout the month of October has been her biggest challenge yet.

In 2014, Shannon lost her mother very suddenly and struggled to cope with the grief she faced. In search of help, she contacted Tameside and Glossop Mind.

“I often used their services to speak to someone when I needed it most and lots of people, I know also use the website too.

“Tameside and Glossop Mind is a great local charity for mental health,” she says.

To give back to the charity that help so many people each year, Shannon has committed to covering 100 miles over the course of the month and raise as much money as she can.

As a keen runner, Shannon has completed everything from 5km races to half marathons, until she took the step into full marathons during the Manchester event last weekend (10 October).

These 26.2 miles were deducted from her 100-mile goal and set her in the perfect position as she headed into her challenge.

She is collecting funds via her JustGiving page on which she has currently raised £375, you can access her page here.
