Marking this year's Remembrance differently at Stalybridge church

Parishioners of St George's in Stalybridge will be marking Remembrance in a slightly different way this year.

It comes in a year when residents are encouraged to mark the 11am silence on their doorstep on November 11 and by displaying a poppy in their window.

Poppies can be downloaded from the British Legion website, where you can also make a donation to the Poppy Appeal - or people are encouraged to make their own.

However, there will still be church services at St George’s in Stalybridge, although these too will be different to the usual occasions.

On Sunday, November 8, there will be a 9am Parish Eucharist at the church with an Act of Remembrance. Then, at the later time of 10.45am, the Parish Eucharist will include an Act of Remembrance.

On Wednesday, November 11, the church will be open from 10am to noon for prayer, Remembrance and the opportunity to light a candle. A silence will be observed in church at 11am.
