Marie Curie collection volunteers needed

Marie Curie is urgently looking for people across Tameside to volunteer just a couple of hours a month to help with its annual appeals.

The charity, which supports people living with a terminal illness, is appealing for people to help place and manage collection tins in businesses, shops, bars and restaurants in Dukinfield, Ashton and Droylsden.

It also needs people to help host Christmas collections and Great Daffodil Appeal collections in March next year.

The money raised from local collections means that Marie Curie nurses, who work day and night in homes across Tameside, can continue to provide one-to-one nursing care and support.

The funds also help run Marie Curie’s nine UK hospices, as well its free Information and Support line which offers practical and emotional support to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.

Julie Peters, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for Tameside, said: "Volunteering is good fun and it’s a great way to meet new people in your local area, while at the same time doing something worthwhile.

"We hope there are plenty of people in the communities across Tameside who could give up a few hours each month to join other volunteers in fundraising for Marie Curie. We are looking for individuals who are organised and have good communication skills to help us in our mission to make sure more dying people get the care and support they need at the end of their lives."
