Hyde police warn of 'scruffy' woman knocking on doors and demanding cash

Police have warned residents in Hyde not to answer their door to a 'scruffy' woman who is knocking on doors and demanding money.

The Newton Neighbourhood Policing team have received reports of a woman attending at the bungalows in and around the Hough Lane area and asking the residents for money.

A police spokesman said: "If you are visited by this female, you are advised not to engage with her and under no circumstances give her any cash. Ignore her request and close the door.

"If you have a spy hole in your door you are advised to use it to view any visitors to your address and not to open the door to anybody you are unsure of.

"Anybody being visited by this female should call the police to report it on 101 or online. Should it be an emergency then dial 999."

The female is described as white, brown hair tied back in a ponytail, round chubby face, aged 20s to 30s. She is scruffy in appearance.
