Hyde Festival Theatre’s annual fundraiser, ‘Play in a Day’ promises an unforgettable experience

The "Play in a Day" fundraiser is a remarkable event where creativity, spontaneity, and talent come together in a whirlwind of theatrical excitement.

Over the course of 24 hours, six writers, six directors, and a large cast will be randomly drawn together. They will be given a theme and tasked with the challenge of crafting a brand-new short play overnight. Additionally, they will incorporate randomly selected props into their productions.

The evening of Saturday, April 6, 2024, will serve as the finale of this exhilarating process. After a day of intensive rehearsals, the casts will take to the stage at 7 pm to perform these newly created works. This is a testament to the skill and dedication of our theatrical community, and we're thrilled to showcase their talent.

“We believe this event will provide an entertaining and unique theatrical experience and offer valuable insight into the creative process behind producing live theatre. Moreover, the funds raised from this event will contribute to the ongoing upkeep of Hyde Festival Theatre and support future projects, ensuring that our community continues to have access to quality theatrical productions,” said Jem Marshall-Ayre from the HFT Communications team.
