Hospital bids farewell to Carol after 33 years service

It was a bitter sweet moment at Tameside Hospital when Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist, Carol Cunningham, retired after 33 years of service.

Carol began her training in Preston in the late eighties before joining the Trust in 1991, and has been lead colorectal clinical nurse specialist for 23 years.

Now, after years of dedication to the NHS, Carol is looking forward to retirement and being able to spend more time with her husband, family and friends. She also plans to travel more and undertake mini adventures.

Karen James OBE, Chief Executive at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT says nursing is of course much more than a job and for many like Carol it’s a vocation.

"We are grateful that Carol shared her expertise and dedication with us these past decades. During her career, she has been loved by patients and colleagues alike. We are going to miss her of course, but after years of service we appreciate it's time for her to have some time for herself now and we wish her well for the future.”
