Dukinfield gym team rally round to deliver Christmas

With this year being tough for so many, Astley Sports Village has been supporting local families this year with their Christmas Gift Appeal.

Mark Storie and the staff at Astley Sports Village say that no child should wake up on Christmas Day without a gift under the tree, no parent should worry that they can’t surprise their child on Christmas morning and no child should question the magic of Christmas by waking up without presents.

With a captivating Christmas tree on display as you enter the building, the spirit of the festive season is high in this Dukinfield gym and leisure facility.

The team, including owner Mark Storie, have been collecting gifts for local children throughout the recent weeks.

Astley decided to appeal to the local community to donate any gifts they can in order to help the families of those struggling this year.

“This year has been horrendous with many families struggling for income,” said Mark (pictured below).

He said the centre has partnered with three local primary schools and a high school in order to give back to the families in the area.

“We asked the headteachers to highlight children whose families are unable to provide them with a present this year, and we will deliver gifts to all of them. With us being a community facility, we thought it only made sense to provide something for the local people. The donations have been incredible.”

Astley have said how impressed they are with the community spirit of Dukinfield and the surrounding area, especially in bleak times.

The centre is set to deliver the donated presents from next week with the last donations being taken today (Thursday) to allow time for wrapping and allocation of toys to families.

Astley Sports Village are hoping to really make Christmas magical like it should be for children and families this year and are committed to save Christmas.
