Ashton Town Team planning a Christmas countdown competition

Ashton Town Team are planning a festive countdown with a difference as the pandemic continues to cause problems for events generally.

To devise some fun for shoppers this Christmas season, plus give them a chance to win some cash to spend in the town centre too, the team plan to launch their very own ‘Twelve Icons Of Christmas’ competition.

Sponsored by Ashton Market, Tameside College and Star Cutouts, the Town Team will be launching the festive feature on Small Business Saturday which is December 5.

A variety of popular character cutouts will be in shop windows across the town centre and shoppers will be challenged with identifying where they are for a chance to win a cash prize, plus money to spend in local independent shops.

Last year, Ashton Town Team worked with Star Cutouts for their Frozen promotion and the markets' Harry Potter Day!

Kevin Taylor, chair of Ashton Town Team, said: “Christmas is going to be different for all of us with Covid still around and with the traditional events and activities not taking place.

“We had to come up with something that would be safe and add some fun for shoppers visiting the town centre and came up with the festive promotion.

“It’s a great way to have fun spotting the characters, but also to win some cash and vouchers to spend at independent businesses too.

“I’d like to thank Tameside College and Tameside Markets for their support plus the amazing team at Star Cutouts for their help once again.”

So, if you would like to find Elvis, see where The Mandalorian is hiding, reveal where Captain Jack is based, discover Moana or seek out Buddy the Elf look out for details in the town centre or on the Ashton Town Team Facebook page.

Full competition details will also be available on www.ashtonsmallbiz.co.uk
