Ashton bus station stand changes postponed

A number of stand changes which were due to be introduced today (Tuesday) at Ashton bus station have now been put on hold.

Services using certain stands were set to move as part of the work for the new £13 million Interchange.

But passengers are warned that these aren't taking place at the time being.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has confirmed that this is due to the inclement weather last weekend.

Storm Ciara caused heavy rainfall and flooding across Greater Manchester on Sunday.

A TfGM spokesperson said: “Due to the weekend’s weather, some important elements of the work needed to open the new bus stands couldn’t be completed.

“We apologise for the delay, but passenger and public safety is paramount and that’s why we made the decision to wait until all essential work is complete before making the bus stand changes.

“We’re working alongside our contractors to get the stands open and will notify passengers of the new date soon.”
