Right said Fred: Talking betting with Betfred's Fred Done

Luke Littler has jumped back in as 6/1 favourite for the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year....and we're still in January!

The Warrington-based darts ace, who celebrated his 17th birthday on Sunday, is back top of the Betfred leaderboard after following up his Alexandra Palace exploits by winning his second pro competition the Bahrain Masters.

It will be tough for Luke with this year being a  big one internationally for football with the Euros in Germany, the Olympics in Paris ... and then there are our cricketers who have just started a Test series in India.

Consequently Betfred have England skipper Harry Kane and midfield maestro Jude Bellingham both at 8/1 while multiple medal winning  athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson from Liverpool and cricket superstar Ben Stokes are each priced at 12/1.

Just as in the Premier League, City and Liverpool are dominating the betting to be outright FA  Cup winners.

Betfred have City who are at Spurs on Friday at 3/1 favourites to lift the cup while Liverpool host Norwich on Sunday in the fourth round.

Liverpool are 4/1 to be outright winners with my team  United at Newport, also on Sunday, at 17/2  just ahead of Chelsea at 9/1 while Betfred have Spurs at 10/1.

Finally two interesting winners: a customer from Lancashire who picked up £46,000 from a £5 treble successfully picking three games - two in Germany and Brentford v Nottingham Forest in the Premier League - to all end 3-2.

And a horse racing punter of ours from Surrey who emptied my pocket to the tune of £56,000 from a total stake of £17.

He went through the card at Wolverhampton with all his five selections winning so was able to cash in his Canadian wager together with two accumulators.

It took him ten minutes to make his selections  - and when he told his wife she told him to be sensible with his new found wealth!

That's what he doing with most of the windfall going into savings although she is due a posh watch for her 50th birthday.

Finally it was party time in Darwen after Chinese restaurant chef Mao Chen had a frankly amazing win shattering the odds to win £46,000 from a £5 bet.

The 36 year old father of two  remarkably picked three football matches that would all end up 3-2.

He went for Freiburg v Hoffenheim, Leipzig v Leverkusen and Brentford v Nottingham Forest with late goals in the two German games ensuring his score line treble came in.

No surprise the City fan celebrated his good fortune long into the night with a party for friends. The jubilant winner, a Betfred customer for a year, said: "It took me an hour to make my result  choices. I'm going to use the money to pay towards a house."
