Hyde return from Scarborough with valuable point

NPL Premier Divison: Scarborough Athletic 1-1 Hyde United

Hyde United fought back from a goal behind to secure a valuable point in a 1-1 draw at Scarborough Athletic.

The Tigers, who entered the game having suffered back-to-back defeats on home soil, started the game in the worst possible way after falling behind in the third minute. Kieran Glynn gave the Seadogs the lead in front of 1,068 at the Flamingo Land Stadium, capitalising on a loose ball from a corner inside the box and nodding home from close range.

However, to their credit, Jim Gannon's Tigers hit back in the second-half and levelled matters in the 49th minute. Liam Tongue took advantage of Tom Pratt's assist and slotted the ball home.

The equaliser opened the game up and both sides were attacking with intent, however the opportunities that did arise came to nothing and the sides had to settle for a point apiece.

Following the game, Gannon spoke to Hyde's media team and had the following to say: "It's a long trip here, the lads looked a bit tired and they couldn't really get going, but sometimes you have to find that bit of adrenaline from somewhere and if you don't start well against a team that's using the wind and as effectively as they were, you find yourself 1-0 down.

"I think the change in the second half was down to moving the ball a bit quicker and we had more composure in the type of ball we were playing forward, and trusting the front players to create opportunities. We looked a threat for long periods of the second half and created some great chances."
