Hardy joins Hyde

Hyde United have announced the signing of Liam Hardy.

The 30 year old has been snapped up by manager, Dave McGurk following his release from Grantham Town.

The striker who has been been prolific in the Northern Premier League for many years now with the likes of Darlington and Buxton has finally ended the search for a forward that has been going on since the start of the season.

Speaking after the 6-0 friendly victory over Glossop North End, McGurk said Hardy was a big signing for the club. I've been a centre forward short of being a good team all season and we've known that.

"There has been a lot of hard work gone in to try and find a centre forward, I've spoken to endless amounts of players and managers and we've finally got our man."

Hardy scored in the opening minutes of Saturday's game and was delighted to have arrived at Ewen Fields.  ''The move happened really quick, Dave got in touch and then it went from zero to a hundred in a short space of time and next thing I'm here. I'm used to the 4G pitch, as we had that at Buxton, and the way the gaffer plays here suits me.  I just need a nice run of games as Ive not had that as yet this season."
