Belle Vue Colts to take place in National League

Belle Vue Speedway is delighted to confirm that the Belle Vue Colts will be participating in the 2021 National Development League.

With Speedway not scheduled to start until May 17, club bosses have been working to manage what will be a very busy schedule at the National Speedway Stadium.

As a result, we are excited to confirm that the Colts’ home meetings will now take place on a Friday evening, a welcome announcement for supporters who have been requesting Friday night racing.

Belle Vue CEO, Adrian Smith said "It was always our wish and intention to enter the Belle Vue Colts into the 2021 National Development League.

“As a club, we strongly believe in the development of young riders and in providing them with an opportunity to race competitively.

“However, this also needs to be achieved cost-effectively and with a reduced season in 2021, we wanted to ensure we could schedule fixtures in a structured way.

“We cannot run our Premiership team outside of a Monday or Thursday but racing the Colts on a Friday should make it easier for our new and existing supporters to attend with their families.

“We have a plan in place to support the team financially however we would urge everyone to support the Colts this year.  You will not be disappointed."

Director of Speedway Mark Lemon added: "We are really pleased that the Colts will again be racing in 2021; something we have strived to ensure every year since taking over at Belle Vue.

“Along with team managers Steve Williams and Graham Goodwin, we are putting the finishing touches in place with the team while also focusing on building our own assets.

“Obviously, we will be without the services of Kyle Bickley, Leon Flint, Ben Rathbone and Jordan Palin, who have all ridden for the Belle Vue Colts in previous seasons.

“We wish every one of them success with their new clubs in 2021 and we will be watching with keen interest on how Kyle develops with Berwick in both the NDL and the Championship."

The club will announce their final two Premiership riders on March 2 live on Facebook at 7:00pm, with further details about the Colts team, final fixture lists and ticket information expected soon after.
