Saddleworth drink driver handed four-year ban

A drink driver from Saddleworth has been banned from the road for four years after crashing his car into a garden.

Kyle Stewart, of Grasscroft, was stopped by local police officers after his vehicle crashed into a front garden at around 9.20am on 5 September 2020.

He was arrested close to the vehicle and later found guilty of drink driving.

When sentenced at Tameside Magistrates' Court, Stewart received 18 weeks imprisonment, suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and take part in 16 sessions of the driver impairment course, as well as pay £325 in court costs and £128 towards victim and witness services.

Stewart was disqualified from driving for four years.

In a warning to other motorists, Greater Manchester Police's Saddleworth and Lees team said: "Please remember that alcohol takes several hours to clear from your system - if you drive the morning after you may still be over the legal limit."
